The New District Council of Texas and the Mid-South States:

The 2007 merger of the District Councils of Texas and the Mid-South brought together a workforce of 5,000 of the best union ironworkers in the business in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Our new alliance puts the union in position to meet competitively the many challenges facing this part of the country as it rebuilds along the Gulf Coast post-Katrina, and the accelerating demand in the region for refineries, power plants, schools, commercial centers, civic projects and other significant construction. The District Council and its affiliated Local Unions are ready to work for and win the business that is coming down the pike.

The District Council, along with IMPACT and our signatory contractors, will actively pursue this business for our members and our signatories. We will recruit the next generation of union ironworkers, and get the message to non-union ironworkers who are out there working that joining the Union will be the best career move they could possibly make for their future.
